Travelogue #7 Chester
So finally we said goodbye to our little hotel room with the view and set off home. Lovely coaches those Acklam ones and the driver was great too. Explained what was happening and when, and I was chuffed to bits to hear him say we would have four hours in Chester. Couldn't stay there long enough for me!
One last look at the lovely sunrise and we were on our way.
We landed at Chester about 10.30. Unfortunately for our driver, the coach park was shut. Fortunately for us, we were dropped off right by a small road that took us to The Groves and down by the river. What a fabulous day for weather we were having too, so we sat and enjoyed a coffee before spotting an open-topped tour bus that would take us around Chester.
It was a lovely trip (photos below). Love those half-timbered buildings.
Next it was back to The Groves for a lovely cheese toastie for lunch followed by the inevitable cup of tea, enjoyed to the sound of a local musician strumming his guitar and singing. And all while watching the boats, birds and folks along the riverbank. A really idyllic place to be.
Finally it was time to head for home. Very tired but very happy. This was my first coach trip. An experience I'll definitely be repeating!
